Frankly, the only reason I can think of for why they have not implemented it yet is because 2/3 of the entire transmog collection is WoW is made up of recolors. Being able to change the colors of armor via a dye system has become an MMO staple with WoW being the only dinosaur refusing to implement it. That said, there is absolutely zero reason why basic customizations to armor beyond the current transmog system aren’t implemented.

The only games that put in the time and resources into this kind of customization are sandbox ARPGs. Unless of course Kotick finally gets his way and they add a cash shop to the game that sells this sort of stuff. I’ve wanted stuff like this forever but sadly it’s never going to happen in WoW. Glyph of the Champion - arcane spells now channel the power of Azeroth herself.Glyph of the Winter Companion - changes the water elemental to an icy elemental.Glyph of Stardust - Frost spells now have sparkles and more swirly (Queen Elsa’s ice spells, maybe).

Glyph of the Fumes - fire spells now always leave traces of smoke.Glyph of the Winter sphere - arcane familiar switches to frost spec.Glyph of the Burning Familiar - arcane familiar switches to fire spec.Glyph of the Arcane Elemental - Water elemental switches to arcane spec, dealing arcane damage irrespective of the player Frost spec.Glyph of the Fire Elemental - Water elemental changes to fire spec, irrespective of the Frost player spec.Glyph of the Shadow Flames - purple, black, or white fire spells.Glyph of the Archaic order - arcane spells are now colored white.Glyph of the Blessed Traveler - teleportation spells are now holy-themed, Vindicaar portals, yellow fire spells.Glyph of the Frozen Abyss - frost spells are now shadow-tinted.Glyph of the Cold Seas - frost spells are now more watery, utilizes the modern portal animation.Glyph of the Concentrated Flames - blue fire spells.Glyph of the Cosmic Wanderer - teleportation spells are now void-themed, void portals.Visual glyphs I’d like to suggest, my reply on a recent reddit post:
